PLN Holds Electrical Safety Education in Primary Schools to Reduce Accident Risk
Understanding how to use electricity safely is not only important for adults but should also be introduced from an early age. Consequently, PT PLN (Persero) Unit Induk Pembangkitan (UIK) Dwipantara has provided electrical safety education to students at SD Negeri 1 Labuhan, Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
The activity aims to increase children’s awareness of potential electrical hazards while instilling safe behaviours when using electrical equipment both at home and in their surrounding environments.
General Manager of PLN UIK Dwipantara, Rita Triani, stated that electrical safety is a fundamental piece of knowledge that must be understood by all levels of society, including children.
“Through this activity, we want to build students’ understanding of how to use electricity safely, both at home and in the surrounding environment,” Rita said in her statement on Monday (2nd June 2026).
According to Rita, early education can help build a safety culture and reduce the risk of accidents caused by improper electricity usage. It is hoped that the knowledge gained by students can also be passed on to their families and the wider community.
“We hope that students can become agents of change who also remind others of the importance of safety in electricity usage,” said Rita.
Meanwhile, Manager of PLN UPK Tambora, Arizona Yoris Wirawan, noted that the activity is an effort to increase public literacy regarding electrical safety through the educational system.
According to Arizona, children need to understand the risks that can arise from unsafe electricity use, ranging from electric shocks to the potential for fires caused by improper installations or equipment usage.
“We hope that students can understand the risks that may arise from unsafe electricity use and apply correct behaviours when using electrical equipment at home and at school,” said Arizona.
Through this education, PLN hopes that awareness regarding electrical safety can grow from an early age, thereby reducing the risk of electrical accidents and ensuring the public increasingly understands the importance of safe electricity usage in daily life.
