JAKARTA — PT PLN (Persero), through its sub-holdings PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP) and PLN Nusantara Power (PLN NP), won two 2026 Subroto Energy Awards organised by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) in Jakarta on Friday (23 October 2026). The awards recognised PLN Group’s innovation and performance in advancing digital transformation and strengthening electricity safety, in support of reliable and sustainable power plant operations.

At the ministry’s highest awards event, PLN IP received the Best Electricity Safety Performance award in the Operational Excellence category for its management of the Kamojang-Darajat geothermal power plants. PLN NP won the Best Digital Transformation award in the Innovation and Added Value category.

Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Yuliot said the Subroto Energy Awards were not merely an annual recognition event, but also a tribute to Professor Subroto’s dedication to laying the foundations for the development of Indonesia’s energy and mining sectors. He stressed that energy resource management should not focus solely on economic value and production targets, but should also be carried out responsibly to safeguard national sovereignty and improve public welfare.

“An award may be received on stage in just a few minutes, but the hard work behind it takes years. That is what we are truly celebrating tonight,” Yuliot said.

PLN President Director Suroso Isnandar said the achievement reflected PLN Group’s efforts to respond to increasingly complex challenges in the electricity sector while extending the benefits of electricity to the public. Operational reliability and the use of technology, he said, were essential to ensuring that quality electricity services were accessible across the country.

“For PLN Group, the success of transformation is measured not only by improved operational performance, but also by the benefits people experience. We continue to strive to provide reliable and equitable electricity services, address challenges in the electricity sector by strengthening safety and technological innovation, and support the Government in achieving energy security and more even development. This award motivates us to increase PLN’s contribution to Indonesia,” Suroso said.

For electricity safety, PLN IP was recognised for managing the Kamojang-Darajat geothermal power plants. The award underlined the importance of applying electricity safety standards to protect workers and power plant assets, while supporting the continued reliable operation of geothermal facilities.

PLN Indonesia Power President Director Bernadus Sudarmanta said the award would encourage the company to continue strengthening its safety culture across all areas of operation.

“This award is recognition and encouragement for us to keep strengthening the safety culture throughout our operations. We ensure that safety standards, procedural compliance and risk management are applied consistently so that power generation is safe and reliable. This commitment is not only about maintaining the reliability of generating assets, but also protecting workers, business partners and communities in our operating areas,” Bernadus said.

Meanwhile, PLN NP’s Best Digital Transformation award reflected the company’s use of technology to improve business process effectiveness and power plant performance. One example is its Intelligent Centre of Optimization for Reliability & Efficiency (iCORE), which uses the Internet of Things (IoT), data integration and analytics to improve plant reliability and efficiency.

PLN Nusantara Power President Director Ruly Firmansyah said digital technology helped the company optimise operational monitoring and support faster, more accurate decision-making.

“Digital transformation must deliver tangible benefits for company operations and the sustainability of electricity supply. By integrating data and using analytics, we are continuing to improve monitoring, increase efficiency and strengthen plant reliability. Going forward, we will continue to develop digital innovations so that PLN NP can respond more effectively to the needs of the electricity system,” Ruly said.

By strengthening its safety culture and pursuing digital transformation, PLN Group is continuing to improve power plant management as part of efforts to maintain the reliability of Indonesia’s electricity supply. The work aligns with PLN’s commitment to supporting the Government’s energy agenda and providing reliable, efficient and sustainable electricity services for the public.
