PLN EPI Records 710 kg Carbon Emission Savings

PT PLN Energi Primer Indonesia (PLN EPI) has recorded carbon emission savings of 710 kg CO2 equivalent through its ‘EPI Clean Energy Day’ programme. PLN EPI Corporate Secretary Mamit Setiawan stated in Jakarta on Wednesday that EPI Clean Energy Day is an effort to encourage employees to use low-emission modes of transport as a tangible contribution to supporting the energy transition, reducing fuel consumption, and simultaneously reducing the company’s carbon footprint. The programme, implemented every Friday, is part of the implementation of directives from the government, the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, and PT PLN (Persero) to promote a culture of energy efficiency and carbon emission reduction in the workplace. Based on the cumulative implementation report for the period 28 April to 3 July 2026, a total of 246 employees have participated in the programme. From this participation, PLN EPI recorded emission savings of 710.87 kg CO2e, equivalent to saving 292.3 litres of Pertamax fuel, as well as transport cost efficiencies reaching Rp3.9 million. ‘This achievement shows the increasing awareness of employees to adopt a low-carbon lifestyle and is an initial step towards achieving the programme’s annual target,’ said Mamit. He added that the energy transition is not only realised through technology development and the provision of clean energy, but also through behavioural changes in every company individual. Mamit believes that simple behavioural changes carried out consistently will have a significant impact, both for the environment and the company’s sustainability. To ensure the programme’s benefits can be measured objectively, each participant records their travel history, which is then converted into data on carbon emission reductions, fuel consumption savings, and transport cost efficiencies. ‘This data-based approach allows the company to monitor the programme’s effectiveness while encouraging a sustainable increase in employee participation,’ Mamit stated.
