PT PLN (Persero) has confirmed the readiness of Indonesia’s national power system to meet the challenges of the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr (RAFI) 1447 Hijriah period. This assurance was provided by PLN Chief Executive Officer Darmawan Prasodjo following his inspection of several strategic power plants, including the Cilegon Gas and Steam Power Plant on Monday, 16 March 2026.

Darmawan revealed that PLN projects the peak electricity demand during Eid al-Fitr to reach 35,017 megawatts (MW) nationally. Meanwhile, supply capacity stands at 51,967 MW, providing a power reserve of 16,950 MW, which is considered more than sufficient.

“In accordance with the directives of President Prabowo Subianto and the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, PLN remains on high alert to ensure the power system remains reliable throughout Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026 across Indonesia,” Darmawan stated.

He added that this readiness resulted from comprehensive assessment conducted well in advance, encompassing generation through to electricity distribution to customers. Primary energy supplies such as coal, gas, and fuel have been secured in safe conditions, complemented by transmission system and substation maintenance completed prior to Ramadan.

To maintain operational reliability, PLN has deployed 72,053 personnel distributed across 3,700 emergency posts throughout Indonesia during the RAFI 2026 period. Personnel mobility is supported by thousands of operational vehicles to ensure rapid response to potential disruptions.

“Our personnel are fully committed to maintaining safe electricity supply. Layered security measures have also been implemented at priority locations such as places of worship, transport hubs, shopping centres, and hospitals,” Darmawan explained.

PLN has also prepared various supporting equipment, including generators, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), mobile substations, and crane trucks, to ensure electricity supply continuity remains secured under various conditions.

Darmawan stressed that with the available power reserves, the national power system is operating safely, enabling the public to perform Ramadan worship and celebrate Eid al-Fitr comfortably.

Specifically for the Java–Madura–Bali (Jamali) power system, peak demand is projected to reach 22,453 MW with supply capacity of 33,497 MW. Consequently, the Jamali system has a power reserve of approximately 11,044 MW.

During his visit, Darmawan also verified the operational readiness of the Cilegon Gas and Steam Power Plant, which has an installed capacity of 740 MW. The plant, operated by PLN’s Indonesia Power subholding, plays an important role in supporting the power system in the Banten region and is connected to the Java–Bali interconnection system.

PLN Indonesia Power Chief Executive Officer Bernardus Sudarmanta confirmed that all generating units are operating optimally to support system reliability during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1447 H period.

“All machinery units at Cilegon Gas and Steam Power Plant are in prime condition. We have prepared standby personnel, ensured equipment reliability, and conducted intensive monitoring to keep electricity supply reliable for communities and industry,” Bernardus concluded.
