PLN Ensures Electricity Reliability During Eid Celebration
PT PLN (Persero) has stated that it has prepared the national electricity system to remain reliable during the Eid al-Fitr 2026 celebration. PLN Chief Executive Officer Darmawan Prasodjo stated that the national peak electricity load during Eid al-Fitr 2026 is estimated to reach 35,017 megawatts (MW).
Meanwhile, the supply capacity is reported to be 51,967 MW. With these figures, PLN indicated there remains a power reserve of approximately 16,950 MW.
“We have also verified that the national primary energy supply is secure, ranging from coal, gas, to fuel oil. Maintenance of the transmission system and substations has also been completed well before Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr,” he said, as quoted from a written statement on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.
To support field readiness, Darmawan stated that PLN has deployed 72,053 personnel across 3,700 emergency posts distributed throughout Indonesia. This emergency operation is supported by 4,901 operational vehicles and 4,594 operational motorcycles, prepared to accelerate response in the event of disruptions.
PLN is also focusing on securing priority locations that are expected to experience increased public activity during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, such as places of worship, transportation hubs, crowded public areas, shopping centres, and hospitals.
In addition to personnel, PLN has prepared supporting equipment for handling disruptions, including 2,005 generator units, 773 uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units, 1,349 mobile substations (UGB), and 429 truck cranes.
Darmawan stated that with the available power reserves, the national electricity system is in a safe condition so that the public can worship and celebrate Eid al-Fitr comfortably.
“With sufficient power reserves, the national electricity system is in a safe condition,” he said.
