PT PLN (Persero)’s Distribution Control Unit (UP2D) in Bali has confirmed the readiness of its electricity distribution system to support the smooth running of the 48th Bali Arts Festival (PKB) in 2026, scheduled from 13 June to 11 July 2026.

PLN UP2D Bali Manager Petrus Irwan Ichwansaputra stated on Friday that through intensive distribution system security and network monitoring, PLN is striving to ensure the public and tourists can enjoy all cultural activities safely and comfortably.

As the unit responsible for regulating and controlling the electricity distribution system operations in Bali, UP2D plays a strategic role in maintaining supply reliability through real-time network condition monitoring, system operation management, and the preparation of anticipatory measures should disruptions occur on the distribution network.

Petrus explained that distribution system reliability is a crucial factor in supporting the success of various large-scale agendas, including the PKB, which annually stands as one of Bali’s biggest cultural events.

“PKB is a very important cultural agenda for Bali. Therefore, we are working to ensure all performances, especially those using lighting and sound systems, can proceed safely and comfortably without disruption to the electricity supply,” he said.

To support supply reliability during the PKB, UP2D Bali has prepared a distribution system security scheme through reliable network configurations and network manoeuvre scenarios should a disruption occur in one part of the system. All network conditions are continuously monitored through the distribution control centre to ensure a rapid response in every operational situation.

As the unit operating the Bali Distribution Control Centre (DCC), UP2D conducts 24-hour supervision of the distribution system. Through this control centre, officers can monitor network conditions, system loads, the status of distribution equipment, and perform rapid network operation adjustments to maintain electricity supply continuity.

According to Petrus, distribution system readiness is determined not only by infrastructure conditions but also by the system control capability and the speed of response in handling potential disruptions. “If a disruption occurs on one feeder or specific network, UP2D has prepared load transfer scenarios and normalisation steps so that the electricity supply is maintained,” he revealed.

In addition to preparing system security strategies, UP2D Bali has also conducted assessments of the distribution networks and substations supplying electricity to the PKB venues. This step was taken to ensure all distribution equipment is in optimal condition before the event begins.

A total of 27 PLN UP2D Bali personnel are on standby during the PKB to monitor the distribution system, secure network operations, and ensure a rapid response should disruptions occur that could potentially affect electricity supply reliability.

PLN is also continuously anticipating various potential external disruptions, such as extreme weather, fallen trees, animals, and other technical factors that could affect the distribution network.

Through reliable distribution system operation management and continuous network supervision, PLN UP2D Bali is committed to supporting the success of the 48th PKB in 2026 as one of the largest cultural agendas, a source of pride for the Balinese people and an attraction for tourists from various regions and abroad.
