PLN Enhances Transparency through Self-Meter Reading Feature
PT PLN (Persero) is accelerating the transformation of its digital services through the self-meter reading feature for postpaid customers, aiming to provide optimal convenience and transparency. Through the PLN Mobile app, one of the flagship features being promoted is SwaCAM (Self-Meter Reading), a service for independently recording kWh meter readings, specifically for postpaid electricity customers. General Manager of PT PLN (Persero) Sulawesi Selatan, Sulawesi Tenggara, and Sulawesi Barat Distribution Main Unit (UID Sulselrabar) Edyansyah in Makassar on Friday explained that SwaCAM represents PLN’s commitment to delivering more modern and transparent services. “The SwaCAM feature is designed to provide convenience, speed, and above all, transparency for customers. With this service, customers can record their meters independently, ensuring that the electricity bills they receive are more accurate and aligned with their actual consumption,” Edyansyah stated. With this innovative feature, Edyansyah added, customers no longer need to depend on the schedule of officer visits for meter readings. Customers simply need to photograph the kWh meter reading using their mobile phone, enter the data via the app, and submit it. This data is then immediately processed by PLN’s system as the basis for calculating their monthly electricity bill estimates. It is important to note that this self-recording feature has a specific time window. Customers can only submit data each month from the 23rd to the 27th. “If customers do not submit data within that period, the recording will revert to being done automatically by PLN officers,” Edyansyah said. Furthermore, Edyansyah emphasised that the implementation of SwaCAM not only offers individual convenience but also collectively enhances transparency and drives overall service efficiency. “We encourage customers to actively utilise this service. The more customers who use SwaCAM, the better the quality of service we can provide, in line with the needs of society in the digital era,” Edyansyah explained. The introduction of the SwaCAM feature is part of PLN’s digital transformation to deliver fast, practical, and accurate electricity services, marking a significant step forward in postpaid customer service.
