PLN electricity tariffs unchanged in September 2026, here is the full list
Electricity tariffs charged by state-owned PT PLN (Persero) in September 2026 are confirmed to remain unchanged. The applicable tariffs still refer to the government’s determination for the July to September 2026 period.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has kept PLN electricity tariffs for the third quarter of 2026 unchanged for 13 non-subsidised customer groups. The policy is intended to maintain public purchasing power, support industrial competitiveness, and provide certainty for the business sector.
Meanwhile, subsidised customers also continue to receive tariffs in accordance with the applicable provisions. As a result, there is no change to PLN electricity tariffs that would take effect specifically on 1 September 2026.
The following are the electricity tariffs per kWh applicable during September 2026:
Subsidised household customers:
450 VA: Rp415 per kWh
900 VA subsidised: Rp605 per kWh
Non-subsidised household customers:
900 VA-RTM: Rp1,352 per kWh
1,300 VA: Rp1,444.70 per kWh
2,200 VA: Rp1,444.70 per kWh
3,500–5,500 VA: Rp1,699.53 per kWh
6,600 VA and above: Rp1,699.53 per kWh
Business customers:
B-2/TR 6,600 VA–200 kVA: Rp1,444.70 per kWh
B-3/TM above 200 kVA: Rp1,114.74 per kWh
Industrial customers:
I-3/TM above 200 kVA: Rp1,114.74 per kWh
I-4/TT 30,000 kVA and above: Rp996.74 per kWh
Government customers and public street lighting:
P-1/TR 6,600 VA–200 kVA: Rp1,699.53 per kWh
P-2/TM above 200 kVA: Rp1,522.88 per kWh
P-3/TR: Rp1,699.53 per kWh
Special category:
- L/TR, TM, TT: Rp1,644.52 per kWh
These tariffs are those applicable for the July–September 2026 period and remain in use for September.
Electricity tariffs are set based on a tariff adjustment mechanism that takes into account a number of macroeconomic parameters, including the rupiah exchange rate, the Indonesian Crude Price (ICP), inflation, and the Benchmark Coal Price (HBA).
Although these parameters could serve as a basis for tariff adjustment, the government has decided to maintain electricity tariffs for the third quarter of 2026. The decision forms part of efforts to safeguard public purchasing power and economic stability.
How to calculate electricity costs per kWh
The tariff per kWh does not mean that all customers pay the same amount. Energy costs are calculated based on the amount of electricity consumed and the customer category.
For example, a 1,300 VA household customer using 100 kWh in one period can calculate the energy cost simply as follows:
100 kWh × Rp1,444.70 = Rp144,470
This figure represents the energy cost calculation based on the per-kWh tariff and does not yet take into account other components that may apply to the bill or electricity purchase.
As a result, PLN electricity tariffs for September 2026 have not increased. The public continues to use the same tariffs as in July and August 2026, because September is the final month of the third-quarter 2026 tariff period.
