PLN Educates Young Generation on Electrical Safety Culture in Digital Era via PLN Mobile

State electricity company PT PLN (Persero) is intensifying education for young people about electrical safety culture through the PLN Mobile application. The outreach was conducted by the Central Load Control Unit for Java, Madura and Bali (UIP2B Jamali), through the Bali Load Control Implementation Unit (UP2B Bali), for hundreds of students of SMK Negeri 1 Denpasar with the theme ‘Realising an Electrical Safety Culture in the Digital Era with PLN Mobile’.

General Manager of PLN UIP2B Jamali, Munawwar Furqan, said the outreach is part of PLN’s efforts to raise awareness among the younger generation so that they play a role in preventing potential electricity disruptions. ‘At the same time, utilising digital technology to report conditions that could potentially endanger the electricity network,’ he said.

He explained that the activity is also part of the spirit of togetherness in welcoming the momentum of independence through education and concern for electrical safety and reliability. The activity was also attended by the Supervisory Coordinator of the Education, Youth and Sports Office of Bali Province, I Wayan Suwira; the Head of SMK Negeri 1 Denpasar, I Wayan Mustika; and the Manager of PLN UP2B Bali, Komang Teddy Indra Kusuma.

Munawwar said that PLN Mobile serves as a bridge between the public and PLN, including for reporting potential hazards or conditions that could disrupt the electricity network. ‘The earlier a potential disruption is identified, the faster the handling measures can be taken. Therefore, we want the younger generation not only to be technology users, but also part of efforts to maintain the safety and reliability of the electricity system,’ he said.

Manager of PLN UP2B Bali, Komang Teddy Indra Kusuma, said that in this outreach, students were given an understanding of various potential disruptions around the electricity network. ‘Such as trees that are too close to the network, buildings that violate safe distances, and kite-flying activities around power lines,’ said Komang.

In addition to understanding these risks, the students were also introduced to PLN Mobile as a means of obtaining electricity services as well as reporting potential hazards so that PLN officers can follow up promptly. The students were also invited to become agents of change by passing on the knowledge gained to their families and the surrounding community. Thus, electricity safety education is expected not to stop in the classroom, but to develop into shared concern in daily life.
