PLN East Java: Power Outages Caused by Technical Operational Issues at Generating Plants

Surabaya, East Java (ANTARA) - PLN’s East Java Distribution Unit (UID Jatim) has stated that technical operational issues at generating plants caused power outages in several areas of Surabaya, Sidoarjo, and Gresik.

PLN UID Jatim Manager for Communication and Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL), Dana Puspita Sari, confirmed that the company is currently deploying all resources to maintain the reliability of the electricity system.

“PLN is currently mobilising resources to maintain the reliability of the electricity system following technical operational issues at generating plants that have led to a reduction in electricity supply capacity,” she said in Surabaya on Wednesday.

To maintain the stability and reliability of the electricity system, PLN is implementing limited load management in a number of affected areas.

Additionally, PLN continues to work towards accelerating the restoration of plant operating conditions so that electricity supply can return to normal.

Dana said PLN will continue to coordinate with all relevant parties to ensure the handling process runs optimally and the reliability of electricity supply is maintained.

She added that updates on the handling and restoration process will continue to be communicated through the company’s official communication channels.

Based on ANTARA’s monitoring, several areas in East Java, particularly Surabaya, Sidoarjo, and Gresik, have frequently experienced power outages since last week at varying times.

Some of these areas have suffered sudden blackouts lasting between two and five hours a day. Last week, several main roads in Surabaya also experienced hours-long outages extending into the evening, creating hazardous conditions for motorists.
