Director of Project Management and New Renewable Energy at PT PLN (Persero), Suroso Isnandar, has been elected as a member of the Majelis Wali Amanat (MWA) of Universitas Gadjah Mada for the 2026-2031 period. This determination was made through a Special Plenary Meeting of the UGM Academic Senate.

The election of MWA members is part of the process for changing the leadership for the next five-year term. A total of 16 members of the Majelis Wali Amanat (MWA) of Universitas Gadjah Mada for the 2026-2031 period have been officially appointed in that meeting.

In response to this mandate, Suroso expressed his gratitude and commitment to contributing to the university’s development.

“It is an honour for me to be trusted to be part of the Majelis Wali Amanat of UGM. I am ready to provide the best contribution to support UGM’s progress as a leading higher education institution that provides broad benefits to the nation,” said Suroso in a written statement on Friday (24/4/2026).

The Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee for the Election of MWA Members, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Deendarlianto, stated that the entire election process has been carried out in accordance with applicable regulations and has received approval from the plenary members.

“A total of 82 members of the UGM Academic Senate have cast their votes out of a total of 88 members, and all stages have been carried out in accordance with the established rules,” said Deendarlianto.

The election process for members was conducted through stages of screening, selection, and voting in accordance with applicable provisions. The elected MWA members will carry out their duties for the 2026-2031 period in accordance with the mandate in the governance of Universitas Gadjah Mada.

Deendarlianto explained that the 16 new MWA members of UGM come from various elements, namely community figures, alumni, non-full professors, full professors, students, and educational staff. This composition is expected to strengthen the role of the MWA in guiding UGM’s policy direction in the future.

The MWA is one of the important organs at UGM that has a strategic role in determining the university’s general policies, supervising non-academic fields, and supporting the institution’s development direction.
