PLN Denies Electricity Tariff Increase
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT PLN (Persero) has denied reports of an electricity tariff increase as rumoured on social media. The public is advised to be wary of false information or hoaxes claiming that PLN is raising electricity tariffs without notice. Through its official Instagram account @plnid, PLN has stated that there is no increase in electricity tariffs. The government has set electricity tariffs for Q2-2026 the same as the previous quarter. This state-owned electricity company also reminds the public to obtain information on electricity tariffs from official sources, whether through official social media channels or the company’s website. “Always ensure you get accurate and reliable information only from PLN’s official social media channels or website,” the company wrote. Previously, social media platforms like Threads and Instagram were abuzz with claims of increased electricity bills. Some even narrated that the tariff increase was done secretly by PLN. One such post on the Instagram account @awreceh.id showed a screenshot of netizens’ comments complaining about paying higher electricity bills compared to previous months. “Fantasshhh the electricity bill increase is not polite, turns out many feel PLN secretly raised the tariff. Huffff,” wrote one netizen. “Kakk? Why is it the same? I usually total 800 thousand suddenly for the last two months it’s 1.3-1.4 million. No new electronics, everything the same, shocked,” replied another netizen. “The token has increased too? I usually 200 thousand a month, this month it’s gone before a month, even though usage is the same as usual,” said another netizen.
