PLN Confirms Power Supply Has Re-entered the Java Island Grid System
PT PLN (Persero) has reported the operational recovery of a private partner power plant (Independent Power Producer/IPP) that had experienced a technical fault. The development means power supply has re-entered the Java Island electricity system to guarantee supply reliability for the public. PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo explained that the technical team successfully synchronised the large power plant to the national grid on Sunday evening. He directly monitored the normalisation process at the load control centre to ensure the stability of primary energy distribution remained on track. “One of the large power plants that had a fault has been successfully restored and synchronised with the Java Island electricity system, and has begun supplying power to increase the reliability of the electricity system in Java,” he said in an official statement on Monday (22/6/2026). The successful synchronisation has reduced the intensity of the rolling blackouts that had occurred in several areas over the past week. The company confirmed that the supply of primary energy raw materials is now flowing smoothly in accordance with the operational specification standards of the power plant machinery. “The supply of primary energy that meets the specifications required by the power plant has been running smoothly. Thus, efforts to strengthen the power plant are proceeding well,” Darmawan added. PLN also appreciated the Government’s support through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) in efforts to strengthen the reliability of the electricity system. “We express our utmost appreciation for the government’s support, in this case the Ministry of ESDM, especially to the Minister of ESDM, Mr Bahlil Lahadalia, for his support and coordination so that the entire electricity ecosystem can work together solidly,” said Darmawan. The company is committed to keeping technical teams on standby to monitor the improvement of the electricity system continuously 24 hours a day. PLN also apologised for the service disruption and load management that had inconvenienced the public in several areas. “We also wish to apologise profusely for the inconvenience felt by the public due to the rolling blackouts that occurred last week,” he concluded.
