PT PLN (Persero) has emphasised that there will be no increase in electricity tariffs for June 2026. This statement follows a surge in social media complaints from netizens claiming to have experienced significant spikes in their electricity bills.

Gregorius Adi Trianto, Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications and CSR at PT PLN (Persero), stated that the electricity tariffs applicable for the April-June 2026 period remain unchanged compared to the previous period. “PLN consistently implements electricity tariff policies as determined by the Government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). For the April-June 2026 period, electricity tariffs remain stable and have not undergone any changes from the previous period,” Gregorius told CNBC Indonesia on Tuesday (2/6/2026).

He noted that if customers experience higher bills, it is not caused by a tariff hike. Instead, the increase may be influenced by changes in electricity consumption patterns. “The increase in electricity bills felt by some customers may be influenced by changes in consumption patterns due to several factors, such as weather conditions, rising temperatures, and increased household activities, which lead to higher daily use of electrical appliances,” he added.

To monitor token purchase history and manage electricity payments independently, customers can utilise the PLN Mobile application to track and manage their usage more efficiently. The steps to check usage history via PLN Mobile are as follows:

  1. Open the PLN Mobile application;

  2. Select the “Token and Payment” menu on the main page;

  3. Click the “Add Customer ID” button (if not yet registered);

  4. Enter your Customer ID;

  5. Click the “Usage History” button (for postpaid customers) or “Token Purchase History” (for prepaid customers).

Furthermore, PLN continues to urge customers to use electricity safely and wisely, including regularly checking domestic electrical installations and unplugging unused electronic devices to keep energy consumption under control.

Complaints regarding rising electricity bills have been circulating widely on social media in recent days. An Instagram post by the account Depok24Jam noted that many residents complained of surges in electricity bills during May and June 2026, despite feeling that their household usage patterns had not changed. Some netizens also claimed that the amount of electricity received from prepaid tokens has decreased compared to previous purchases.
