PLN Confirms 100% Electricity Restoration in Central Sulawesi

PT PLN (Persero) has confirmed that the restoration of the electricity network affected by the magnitude 6.7 earthquake on Monday, 16 June 2026, in Central Sulawesi has been fully completed. “The accelerated recovery of the electricity network was successfully carried out thanks to the cooperation of all teams in the field,” said PLN Sulmapana Distribution Control Vice President Eko Prihandana in a written statement received in Palu on Sunday, 21 June 2026. The affected network comprised three feeder units that have been restored, 15 restored network sections, 651 restored substations, and 68,759 PLN customers who are now enjoying electricity again after the earthquake. Five areas in Central Sulawesi—Palu City, Donggala Regency, Parigi Moutong, Sigi, and Poso—experienced power disruptions due to the natural disaster. Customer service units in Palu City, Kamonji, Tawaeli, Donggala, Tambu, and Parigi were temporarily disrupted during the event. He stated that the company is committed to maintaining supply reliability during the emergency response period so that the public can continue to enjoy optimal electricity. As electricity has become a basic necessity for supporting daily activities, this commitment is reinforced by monitoring from field officers. “We remain on standby, accompanying the community until conditions are fully recovered,” said Eko. He added that in addition to restoring the electricity network, PLN also provided humanitarian aid to earthquake victims in Sigi Regency, the most severely affected area. The aid was distributed through several emergency post locations and health service facilities, including the Nokilalaki District Post, Palolo Community Health Centre, Nokilalaki Community Health Centre, and the Palolo Office Electrical Standby Post. “The logistics distributed included bottled water, rice, canned fish, medicines, clean water tanks, and other supplies, including emergency lighting assistance,” he said. According to Sigi BPBD data as of Saturday, 20 June 2026, the number of damaged houses due to the earthquake disaster in the area reached 2,335 units, consisting of 1,955 lightly damaged, 226 moderately damaged, and 154 heavily damaged. The total number of victims and affected people was 8,586 individuals from 2,775 households, with 17 seriously injured, 108 lightly injured, and three fatalities.
