PT PLN (Persero) continues to strengthen the Java electricity system, which is currently recovering gradually. Normalisation efforts are being carried out by accelerating the recovery of power plant disruptions and securing primary energy supplies.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo stated that one of the power plants owned by a private partner, or Independent Power Producer (IPP), which experienced operational disruptions last week, has been successfully restored. The plant resumed operations and synchronised with the Java electricity system on Sunday (21/6/2026) at 18.00 Western Indonesia Time.

“One of the large power plants that had experienced a disruption has been restored and synchronised with the Java Island electricity system, and has begun supplying electricity to enhance the reliability of the system on Java Island. With this, the rolling blackouts that occurred last week have now been successfully minimised,” Darmawan said during a press conference at the PLN Central Load Control Unit for Java, Madura, and Bali (UIP2B Jamali) in Depok, West Java, on Sunday (21/6/2026).

In addition to the plant recovery, the condition of the electricity system on Java Island is also continuing to improve as the supply of primary energy required by the power plants is maintained. “We want to convey that the electricity system on Java Island is gradually improving. The supply of primary energy that meets specifications and is needed by the power plants has been running smoothly. Thus, efforts to strengthen the power plants are proceeding well,” Darmawan stated.

PLN expressed appreciation for the government’s support through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) in efforts to strengthen the reliability of the electricity system. “We extend our highest appreciation for the government’s support, in this case the Ministry of ESDM, especially to Minister of ESDM Bahlil Lahadalia, for his support and coordination so that the entire electricity ecosystem can work together solidly to strengthen and make the Java Island electricity system more reliable,” Darmawan added.

As an anticipatory measure against future system dynamics, PLN continues to conduct intensive monitoring while strengthening generation reliability and primary energy supply chain management. “We continuously monitor the improvement efforts of the Java Island electricity system 24 hours a day, seven days a week, on an ongoing basis. We are making the best efforts so that the improvements that have been underway can be maintained and enhanced,” Darmawan said.

On that occasion, PLN also apologised to the public for the inconvenience caused by load management in several areas. “We also wish to apologise profusely for the inconvenience felt by the public due to the rolling blackouts that occurred last week,” Darmawan concluded.
