The Board of Directors of PT PLN (Persero) visited the State Palace on Monday (22/6/2026) to report on the latest developments regarding the power outages on Java Island. PLN CEO Darmawan Prasodjo stated that the electricity system condition has begun to improve, with rolling blackouts successfully minimised since Sunday.

“We want to convey good news. The rolling blackouts that occurred last week on Java Island have started to improve since yesterday, Sunday,” Darmawan told reporters before the meeting. He also extended an apology to the public for the inconvenience caused by the outages.

Darmawan explained that the supply of primary energy, which meets the specifications for PLN’s power plants and those of Independent Power Producers (IPPs), has started flowing since last week. He noted that one major IPP plant experienced technical issues on Friday, which contributed to the supply disruption, but confirmed that the plant was successfully restored and synchronised with the Java electricity system on Sunday night.

“We immediately deployed a team together with our partners to carry out repairs. There is good news from last night; one major power plant has been restored and is now supplying electricity to the Java system,” he said.

Darmawan also expressed his appreciation for the support and guidance from the government, particularly the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and Minister Bahlil Lahadalia. He pledged that PLN will improve the governance of the primary energy supply chain for both PLN and IPP power plants to prevent future disruptions. “We are making all-out efforts, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to ensure the reliability of the Java electricity system is maintained and even enhanced,” he concluded.
