PLN Chief Reports to President Prabowo on Java Rolling Blackouts
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT PLN (Persero) President Director Darmawan Prasodjo and his team visited the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Monday afternoon to meet President Prabowo Subianto and report on the progress of the rolling blackouts that occurred in Java. In a press statement before the meeting, Darmawan conveyed that the condition of the electricity system in Java has begun to improve, allowing the rolling blackouts from the previous week to be successfully minimised since Sunday (21/6). “We want to deliver good news that the rolling blackouts that occurred last week in Java, starting yesterday Sunday, the condition of the electricity system in Java has begun to improve and the rolling blackouts have been successfully minimised,” Darmawan said. He explained that the improvement in the electricity system was supported by the resumption of primary energy supplies that meet the specifications required by the power plants, both those owned by PLN and its partners or independent power producers (IPPs), thereby strengthening the resilience of the electricity system in Java. Additionally, he noted that one large partner-owned power plant that had previously experienced technical issues was successfully restored and re-synchronised with the Java electricity system on Sunday night. According to Darmawan, the plant has resumed supplying electricity to the Java system, helping to strengthen the power supply. He explained that previously, two large power plants owned by PLN’s partners had experienced technical disruptions and were forced to exit the system. In response, PLN and the plant partners immediately deployed teams to carry out repairs. “Last week we immediately deployed a PLN team together with our partners to carry out repairs. And there is good news that last night one large power plant was successfully restored and synchronised with the electricity system in Java and began supplying electricity to the Java system,” he stated. Beyond the plant recovery efforts, PLN has also improved the governance of the primary energy supply chain and strengthened both its own plants and those of its IPP partners. Darmawan said PLN continues to conduct intensive 24-hour daily monitoring and mapping of system conditions to maintain and enhance the reliability of the electricity system in Java. On this occasion, PLN also expressed appreciation for the support and direction from the government, particularly the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, as well as the cooperation of suppliers and plant partners in maintaining supply reliability. “We ask for prayers and support from the entire community so that our all-out efforts can be facilitated and run smoothly. And we appreciate once again the support from the government, the cohesiveness of all our partners, both suppliers and plant partners, so that together we can maintain reliability so that this energy supply can run smoothly in the future,” he said.
