PLN CEO: Rolling Blackouts Successfully Minimised
PT PLN (Persero) has confirmed that the electricity system in Java is gradually improving following the recovery of one of its power generation units that had experienced technical issues, after a week of rolling blackouts in various regions. PLN CEO Darmawan Prasodjo explained that the company has restored operations at one of the two Independent Power Producer (IPP) plants that were the cause of the disruption. The company deployed technical teams to synergise with developer partners to accelerate the recovery of the problematic electricity infrastructure. “This evening we bring good news, one of the power plants has been restored and as of 6pm has been synchronised with the Java electricity system and has begun supplying power to increase the reliability of the Java electricity system. Therefore, the rolling blackouts that occurred last week have today been successfully minimised,” he said in an upload on the Instagram account @pln_id. In addition to technical repairs, the company confirmed that the distribution of primary energy to the generating units is now running smoothly and meeting the required specifications. “We continue to monitor the repair efforts for the Java electricity system 24 hours a day, 7 days a week continuously. We are also working to improve the governance of the primary energy supply chain and strengthen power generation,” he added. Despite the gradually improving conditions, PLN is committed to continuously enhancing the quality of its generation infrastructure to prevent similar disruptions in the future. The company also extended its apologies to customers for the service disruption that had affected public activities. “We would also like to offer our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience to the public caused by the rolling blackouts last week. For this reason, we also ask for the public’s prayers and support so that the efforts to repair and strengthen the Java electricity system can proceed smoothly,” he concluded.
