PLN CEO Reports to Prabowo: Java's Electricity Supply Beginning to Recover

President Prabowo Subianto summoned PT PLN (Persero) CEO Darmawan Prasodjo and several PLN officials to the Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta. Prabowo requested a report regarding the rolling blackouts that occurred in several regions.

Darmawan arrived at the palace at 11.55 WIB on Monday (22/6/2026), accompanied by PLN’s Director of Generation Management, Rizal Calvary Marimbo, and the Acting Director of PLN Energi Primer Indonesia, Rakhmad Dewanto.

Darmawan stated that the rolling blackouts in Java began to recover on Sunday (21/6). He apologised to the public for the situation.

"The rolling outages that occurred last week on Java Island, starting yesterday Sunday, the electricity system condition on Java Island began to improve and the rolling blackouts were successfully minimised," Darmawan said.

"We would like to apologise to the public for the inconvenience caused by these rolling blackouts," he continued.

Darmawan said that energy supply from partners meeting the power plant specifications has begun to flow. This, he said, strengthens the resilience of the electricity system on Java Island.

"Then also on Friday we reported that two large power plants belonging to our partners experienced technical issues and were forced to exit the system," he stated.

Darmawan said PLN teams have been deployed for repairs. He noted that one power plant which experienced issues has been restored.

"There is good news from last night, one large power plant was successfully restored and synchronised with the electricity system on Java Island and has begun supplying electricity to the Java system," he said.
