PLN CEO Assures National Electricity Supply is Secure: Gas Stock 12 Days, Coal 15.9 Days
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT PLN (Persero) assures that the national electricity system until March 2026 is in a normal condition.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo stated that the net installed capacity as of the end of last month reached 71 gigawatts (GW) with a reserve margin of 39 per cent.
This figure is considered to indicate that the national electricity supply is reliable.
“So the national electricity supply is in a reliable condition, and this is very important to support the continuity of economic growth and also the needs of the community,” he said during a hearing with Commission VII of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Jakarta, on Monday (13/4/2026).
Darmawan assured that the delivery of liquefied natural gas (LNG) is proceeding according to schedule without significant obstacles.
According to him, the support from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) in fulfilling the national gas quota also helps maintain the supply for PLN’s power plants.
“HOP or days of operation for gas reserves averages around 12 days. This means that in general, LNG deliveries are scheduled and there are no significant obstacles,” he said.
Then, from the national coal stock perspective, until April 2026, it is also in a safe condition with an average of 15.9 days of operation.
This condition reflects the availability of sufficient fuel for the operation of power plants.
“For this, we also appreciate the support from the Ministry of ESDM so that the coal HOP trend continues to show improvement, and this is certainly to strengthen the reliability of the national electricity supply,” Darmawan stated.
Previously, the Ministry of ESDM stated that the electricity supply remains at a safe and controlled level in accordance with national standards amid current global geopolitical dynamics, particularly the escalating conflict in the Middle East.
ESDM Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said that together with related business entities, they continue to monitor energy stock movements daily.
For the electricity and household fuel sectors, it is assured that there are no significant supply obstacles. “Coal for PLN also averages 14-15 days, which is indeed the minimum national standard limit,” he said in a written statement on Tuesday (17/3/2026).
