PLN attributes Jakarta power outage to supply disruption
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT PLN (Persero) UID Jakarta Raya has stated that the power outage in several areas of Jakarta on Thursday was due to a disruption in electricity supply.
“A disruption in electricity supply has occurred, impacting several areas of Jakarta. PLN is focusing on efforts to normalise the situation,” said Senior Manager of Communication and Public Relations for PLN UID Jakarta Raya, Haris Andika, when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta on Thursday.
Haris requested that the public report the condition of electricity services in their areas via the PLN Mobile application and PLN Contact Centre 123.
The statement responds to the power outage that occurred in various parts of Jakarta, including office areas, on Thursday, as complained about by residents on social media.
Based on ANTARA’s observations, the power outage occurred in several areas of Central Jakarta such as Thamrin and Bendungan Hilir; South Jakarta such as Kuningan, Jagakarsa, Tebet; and other areas like East Jakarta.
Previously, a power outage also occurred in several areas of Jakarta on Thursday (9/4/2026).
At that time, PLN stated that the disruption originated from the system in several substations, which caused the electricity supply to temporarily stop in the affected areas.
In response to the situation, PLN immediately moved quickly to carry out normalisation by deploying field personnel.
The recovery process was carried out in stages to ensure the electricity system returned to stable and safe conditions before being supplied to customers.
The outage also impacted MRT services, with operational disruptions at several stations on Thursday (9/4/2026) afternoon at 17:57 WIB.
