PLN and Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Forge Strategic Partnership to Bolster Food and Energy Security
PT PLN (Persero) together with the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has strengthened its synergy to support the development of the marine and fisheries sector as one of the drivers of the national economy. This collaboration is also a strategic step in strengthening energy resilience through the provision of electricity infrastructure integrated with maritime spatial management.
This commitment was realised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on electricity supply and strategic cooperation in the marine and fisheries sector by Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono and PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo. The signing took place as part of the National Coordination Meeting (Rakonas) of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries on Thursday (2/7) at the KKP head office in Jakarta.
Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono underscored the importance of cross-sectoral synergy in supporting national marine and fisheries priority programmes.
“We hope all the programmes that have been planned can be jointly guided through to the implementation stage, so that they deliver tangible benefits to the public through increased regional economic growth, stronger food security, job creation, and improved community welfare,” said Sakti Wahyu Trenggono.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo welcomed the collaboration and affirmed PLN’s readiness to support the growth of the marine and fisheries sector’s productivity through the provision of reliable and sustainable electricity.
“PLN is committed to being a strategic partner of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries in ensuring all facilities and infrastructure in this sector receive an adequate electricity supply,” said Darmawan.
The scope of the cooperation includes the supply of electricity for marine and fisheries facilities and infrastructure, support for maritime spatial planning for electricity infrastructure development, data and information exchange, human resource capacity building, and other cooperation agreed in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations. The partnership is expected to serve as a foundation for synergy between the two parties in supporting national food and energy security.
“We believe that the availability of reliable and sustainable electricity is an important foundation for the productivity of the marine and fisheries sector, and through this synergy with KKP, the benefits will be felt directly in coastal areas and by business players throughout Indonesia,” Darmawan concluded.
With this spirit of collaboration, PLN is optimistic that the strategic partnership with KKP will make a tangible contribution to strengthening national food and energy security, while also driving sustainable economic growth for coastal communities and businesses in the marine and fisheries sector.
