Jakarta - PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), the State-Owned Electricity Company, through its Jakarta Raya Distribution Unit (UID) has urged residents planning to travel for the 2026 Eid holiday to inspect their home electrical installations and ensure they are in safe condition before leaving their properties unoccupied.

“I remind the community who will be undertaking the 2026 Eid holiday journey to re-examine the electrical systems in their homes. Ensure that all electrical systems are in safe condition,” said General Manager of PLN UID Jakarta Raya, Moch. Andy Adchaminoerdin when confirmed in Jakarta on Sunday.

This measure is important to prevent potential hazards such as electrical short circuits and other risks whilst homes are vacant for extended periods.

“All electrical appliances in the home before departing for the holiday need to be checked. Particularly concerning electrical equipment that will not be used whilst the home is left unoccupied for a long period,” said Andy.

Additionally, Andy reminded the public to switch off or unplug electrical appliances that are not required to avoid potential electrical disruptions that could trigger fires or damage installations.

Residents should also inspect the condition of electrical cables within the home. Cables that pose potential dangers should be secured immediately, particularly those located on the floor or using cable reels.

Decorative lights located outside or in garden areas should also be switched off beforehand to prevent broken glass and electrical short circuits.

According to him, this measure is important given that March still presents potential for rain with fairly high intensity that could trigger flooding in several areas.

“Cables located on the floor or cable reels should be lifted to higher locations to avoid the risk should water accumulation or flooding occur,” explained Andy.

Beyond electrical safety, Andy also advised residents leaving their homes to inform neighbours or local community leaders such as the village chief about their departure.

This aims so that the surrounding community is aware of the condition of vacant homes and can assist in monitoring should anything undesirable occur.

Furthermore, Andy suggested residents coordinate with neighbours and community leaders.

“Coordination with neighbours and community leaders can become a preventive step should disasters such as flooding or other emergency conditions occur at any time,” said Andy.

With these various preventive measures, Andy hopes the community can undertake the holiday journey with peace of mind without worrying about the condition of homes left behind.

PLN also ensures the readiness of electrical systems during the holiday and Eid break period so that electricity supply to the community remains safe and reliable, both for residents remaining in Jakarta and those returning after the holiday journey.

Previously, PT PLN (Persero) Distribution Unit (UID) Jakarta Raya prepared 673 Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) distributed across 375 locations within the PLN UID Jakarta Raya working area.

These charging stations support the mobility of residents using electric vehicles during the 2026 Eid holiday period.

“For communities using electric vehicles, the points for public charging stations are very numerous. The UID Jakarta Raya itself already has 673 locations distributed across several points,” said General Manager of PLN UID Jakarta Raya Moch. Andy Adchaminoerdin at the PLN UID Jakarta Raya office in Central Jakarta on Friday, 13 March.

Andy stated that PLN continues to strengthen charging infrastructure for electric vehicles to provide convenience for residents undertaking journeys using electric vehicles.

According to him, PLN UID Jakarta Raya currently has hundreds of public charging station points distributed across various strategic locations in Jakarta.

Andy hopes the presence of these charging stations will facilitate electric vehicle users, both those undertaking the holiday journey and those carrying out activities in the Jakarta area during the Eid holiday.
