Plenary Maneuver Using AMPI Name is Illegal, Says Jerry Sambuaga

The Chairman of the Central Leadership Council of the Indonesian Youth Renewal Force (DPP AMPI), Jerry Sambuaga, stated that the expanded plenary meeting held on 30 July 202ical, which claimed to represent AMPI, is illegal. He noted that the expanded plenary forum lacks any basis within the organisation’s regulations.

Jerry emphasised that AMPI is a large youth cadre organisation with clear, complete, and binding Articles of Association and Bylaws (AD/ART) that serve as guidelines to ensure orderly organisational operations. “I want to emphasise that AMPI is a large youth organisation that certainly has written rules binding all parties. Therefore, one cannot arbitrarily create a self-made forum and then make unilateral claims as if it were an organisational decision,” Jerry stated to journalists in Jakarta on Friday, 31 July 2026.

Jerry asserted that the activity named as an expanded plenary meeting on 30 July 2026 is illegal because the meeting held in the name of AMPI was conducted without organisational basis and without any legitimacy from the DPP AMPI, which holds the highest authority at the central level. “Whatever decisions are produced from that forum are clearly not binding and have no organisational legal basis within AMPI,” he added.

Regarding the illegal decision from the expanded plenary meeting claiming the dismissal of the AMPI Chairman, Jerry stated that the Chairman cannot be dismissed through the mechanism of an expanded plenary meeting. He revealed that the actions taken in the illegal forum are not recognised under AMPI’s Organisational Regulations (PO) concerning discipline and organisational sanctions.

“Everything is clear and firm in AMPI’s PO, which includes specific stages; decisions cannot be made arbitrarily. This means that if they take shortcuts outside of organisational rules, it is not the enforcement of organisational discipline, but rather a violation against the organisation itself,” he asserted.

Furthermore, Jerry continued, the parties who initiated and were involved in the expanded plenary meeting are no longer part of the DPP AMPI management. “Claiming to represent the organisation and asserting the authority of the management, even though their organisational status is no longer attached, further confirms that the forum has no legitimacy to speak or make decisions on behalf of AMPI,” he concluded.
