As a small-scale vendor, I would like to voice my opinion
about the development of the Tanah Abang market in particular,
and other similar projects in general.
Tanah Abang has been rebuilt into a new, modern, multistory
trading center. In fact, kiosk owners do not mind if the
government or developers turn the market into a 25-floor
building, or construct other such projects, as long as the
original shops are restored.
For a long time, I owned a 15-m2 kiosk on the second floor of
the market. After the reconstruction, a kiosk of that size on the
same floor should belong to me.
In this way, kiosk owners will not have to repurchase new
shops and their interests will not be harmed, while developers
can make a profit from the other floors they have built.
