Plaza Senayan opened
JAKARTA (JP): Plaza Senayan, a modern new shopping mall
located on Jl. Asia Afrika, South Jakarta, was officially opened
yesterday.
President director of PT Senayan Trikarya Sempana, Masao
Hashimoto, opened the 60,000-square meter mall, which will have
apartments and office buildings.
The apartments and the office buildings will be finished next
year.
Data from the Investment Planning Board said that the Rp 200
billion (US$89 million) project is the first Japanese-funded
retail business in the country.
According to a public relations representative of the company,
the mall will have seven movie theaters and about 250 shops,
including boutiques of well-known designers, such as Issey
Miyake, Chloe and Karl Lagerfeld.
A giant wall clock, which is said to be the biggest clock in
the world, stands in the middle of the mall. The four-by-six
meter clock features a performance of six mechanical dolls. (05)
