JAKARTA (JP): Plaza Senayan, a modern new shopping mall located on Jl. Asia Afrika, South Jakarta, was officially opened yesterday.
President director of PT Senayan Trikarya Sempana, Masao Hashimoto, opened the 60,000-square meter mall, which will have apartments and office buildings.
The apartments and the office buildings will be finished next year.
Data from the Investment Planning Board said that the Rp 200 billion (US$89 million) project is the first Japanese-funded retail business in the country.
According to a public relations representative of the company, the mall will have seven movie theaters and about 250 shops, including boutiques of well-known designers, such as Issey Miyake, Chloe and Karl Lagerfeld.
A giant wall clock, which is said to be the biggest clock in the world, stands in the middle of the mall. The four-by-six meter clock features a performance of six mechanical dolls. (05)
