PlayStation Plus Prices Rise From Tomorrow, New Gamers to Be Affected

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has raised the price of its paid PlayStation Plus (PS Plus) service for new customers starting tomorrow, Wednesday 20 May 2026. The price hike was announced via Sony’s official PlayStation account on the X platform (formerly Twitter) under the handle @PlayStation. Sony said the decision was influenced by the “current market conditions,” likely related to the ongoing unsettled economic situation and global supply chain challenges. From 20 May, the PS Plus Essential monthly package will rise from $10 (about Rp 176,000) to $11 (about Rp 194,000). Meanwhile, the three-month package will increase from $25 (about Rp 441,000) to $28 (about Rp 494,000). The package is required for online play on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles, and it also provides access to certain free monthly games. Sony has not announced price changes for the PS Plus Extra and Premium packages. These two packages remain priced at $15 (about Rp 265,000) and $18 per month (Rp 318,000), respectively. Sony said the price increase applies only to new subscribers, including those who previously cancelled and now wish to rejoin. Meanwhile, active subscribers in most regions are not affected by the price change. However, Sony noted that users in India and Turkey will be exempt.
