Platform Extension Underway, Yet Bogor Station Passengers Highlight Lack of Canopies
BOGOR, KOMPAS.com — The extension of platforms 6, 7, and 8 at Bogor Station began on Wednesday (15/4/2026). Amid this capacity enhancement project, passengers are instead highlighting one basic facility that they believe has yet to be adequately addressed: canopies. Several passengers hope that the new platforms under construction will not only accommodate longer train consists but also provide comfort while waiting, especially during rain or hot weather. One passenger, Anwar Maulana (29), supports the platform extension because it is seen as capable of handling longer train consists. “If extended, everything can be 12 cars; there are so many passengers from Bogor, but add canopies. Bogor Station is in a rainy city, yet there are no canopies,” Anwar told Kompas.com on Wednesday. According to Anwar, requests for additional canopies have actually been frequently voiced by passengers but have not yet been realised. “We’ve asked for it often (for canopies). But it’s always the same. When it rains, we get soaked; when it’s hot, we get scorched,” he said. Rina Setiawati (34) expressed a similar view. She hopes that the canopies at Bogor Station can be interconnected across platforms. When rain falls, Rina often gets wet while waiting for the train due to the lack of canopy protection. “Sometimes we’re waiting for the train, and suddenly it rains. No canopy, so we all get wet. Hopefully in the future, this is also addressed; don’t just extend the platforms, but make the canopies connect from the tap-in point to all platforms,” she said. Dedi Kurniawan (41) echoed the same sentiment. He considers canopies an essential need for daily passengers. According to him, when rain falls, passengers often crowd together seeking whatever shelter is available.
