Plaque recognizes relations
CANBERRA: The diplomatic relationship between the Republic of
Indonesia and Australia has been recognized in a plaque at the
Australian Archives Building.
The plaque was hung in a room in the east wing of the building
where the first Indonesian Embassy was established in 1950.
The plaque was hung on Tuesday by Indonesian representative to
Australia Imron Cotan in front of several ambassadors from
various countries.
Prime Minister Sjahrir established the country's diplomatic
relations with Australia in 1946.
Imron said that Australia had shown its support for
Indonesia's independence since 1945. --Antara
