Planned fuel price hike

Planned fuel price hike

From Media Indonesia

The government's plan to raise the price of fuel in April 2001
has caused anxiety because the last hike was only in October
2000. A fuel price hike is burdensome to the people. Perhaps it
would be a good idea to postpone the hike to the end of 2001,
otherwise it is the common people who would have to bear the
burden.

It is strange that there are always problems with fuel prices.
Hasn't the state oil company Pertamina completed its internal
reforms?

A fuel price increase will cause the prices of other
commodities to soar. The price of fuel seems to increase every
time the government plans to raise the salaries of civil
servants.

The government should not raise the price of leaded gasoline
even if it raised the price of all other types of fuel. If the
price of leaded gasoline is raised, virtually everything else
will also go up in price. If the price hike is 20 percent, the
impact will be very negative.

The government must not forget that Article 33 of the 1945
Constitution stipulates that our economy is a joint undertaking
aimed at pursuing a common interest. The Constitution is for the
people, by the people and from the people.
