PKT Distributes Urgent Aid to Residents Affected by NTT Earthquake
PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur (Pupuk Kaltim) has distributed aid worth Rp100 million to communities affected by the earthquake in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), with a focus on food, sanitation, nutrition, and health needs. Through the PKT Proaktif programme, the assistance was delivered to support affected communities, particularly in Manggarai Regency, during the emergency response and recovery period.
Pupuk Kaltim President Director Rafli Yandra said the support was a form of the company’s care and solidarity with communities affected by the earthquake, as well as an effort to help meet basic needs on the ground. “This support is part of Pupuk Kaltim’s spirit of care through the PKT Proaktif programme, as well as a form of the company’s presence to continue contributing to society. This time we are present in NTT to help our brothers and sisters who have been struck by disaster,” Rafli said in a written statement in Jakarta on Thursday (20/8/2026).
Rafli said the aid was focused on the urgent needs of communities in affected locations, ranging from basic necessities, sanitation, nutrition, and health, to supplies to support evacuation conditions. For basic necessities, Pupuk Kaltim distributed 1,390 items consisting of mineral water, rice, granulated sugar, and instant noodles. The aid also included hundreds of sanitation supplies for adults and babies.
“The aid also includes hundreds of adult and baby sanitation supplies, as urgent needs for communities whose living conditions have not fully recovered,” Rafli added. In addition to basic necessities and sanitation, Pupuk Kaltim distributed nutrition and health packages, including milk for children and the elderly, baby food and complementary feeding biscuits, herbal medicine, telon oil, mosquito protection, and tarpaulins for evacuation needs.
Rafli expressed hope that the aid would help meet the basic needs of communities, particularly residents still in emergency conditions and requiring logistical support. “Through PKT Proaktif, the company continues to strengthen its commitment to being present and providing benefits to society, including in emergency disaster conditions,” Rafli said.
Rafli said Pupuk Kaltim also expressed its condolences over the earthquake that affected communities in NTT, particularly in Manggarai Regency. The company continues to monitor conditions on the ground to assess the need for further support during the recovery process. “We extend our empathy and support to all affected communities. Pupuk Kaltim hopes this aid will be of benefit and become part of the collective effort to help communities through the emergency response period and into recovery,” Rafli said.
Pupuk Kaltim Corporate Secretary Anggono Wijaya said the company coordinated with the Manggarai Regency Government to ensure the aid was received and distributed appropriately according to data on affected communities. Anggono explained that the composition of the aid took into account the needs of communities across various age groups and conditions, including food, sanitation, and nutrition and health needs. “We hope this support can help alleviate the burden, particularly in meeting basic needs as well as sanitation and health nutrition during the recovery period,” Anggono said.
Manggarai Regent Herybertus Geradus Laju Nabit expressed appreciation for Pupuk Kaltim’s support to communities affected by the earthquake. He said the aid was important because it covered a number of needs required by communities in emergency conditions. “We extend our thanks and appreciation to Pupuk Kaltim for giving attention to the people of Manggarai. This aid is very meaningful in facing the current post-disaster conditions,” Herybertus said.
Herybertus explained that the Manggarai Regency Government continues to handle and monitor conditions on the ground. Data collection is also being carried out to identify community needs in greater detail so that aid can be distributed appropriately.
