PKS's Mardani: WFH Every Friday Could Save 32% of Office Operational Budget
Member of Commission II and Chairman of PKS’s Election Body Mardani Ali Sera hopes that civil servants (ASN) will remain productive following the government’s implementation of work from home (WFH) every Friday. Mardani stated that the WFH policy, as reported to him, could save up to 32% on office budget usage.
“First, detailed supervision is needed. Second, thorough socialisation is required. Third, ensure meticulous evaluation. Finally, ensure productivity does not decrease. In fact, it must increase. This should be followed by reducing fuel consumption by facilitating public transportation,” said Mardani, opening his remarks to reporters on Wednesday (1/4/2026).
Based on reports he received, Mardani said the ASN WFH policy could save 32% on electricity, water, and official vehicle usage. He hopes the fuel savings goal from implementing WFH can be achieved.
“For fuel, a study is needed, but yesterday’s meeting with BKN (National Civil Service Agency) indicated 32% efficiency in the office for one day on electricity, water, official vehicles, and operational costs,” he stated.
Nevertheless, Mardani hopes for follow-up on fuel efficiency policies. He encourages the government to intensify public transportation so the public can use it safely and comfortably.
“There must be follow-up policies for fuel efficiency. Especially migration to public transport,” he explained.
It is known that the government has set a work-from-home policy for civil servants (ASN) every Friday. This work scheme is implemented in response to the impacts of the Middle East conflict.
“The implementation of work from home for ASN in central and regional agencies, done for one working day per week, namely every Friday,” said Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, in a press conference on Tuesday (31/3) evening.
