PKS States Many Jakarta Government Programs Align with Its Views, Rarely Criticises Pramono
The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) explained why criticism of Jakarta Provincial Government under Governor Pramono Anung is rarely heard in public. DPW PKS Jakarta Chairman Suhud Alynudin said that many Jakarta government programs currently align with PKS’s views and expectations, leaving no reason to constantly criticise. ‘If there are many areas we agree on and the executive’s performance meets our expectations, then there’s no need to criticise, let alone seek out faults for media coverage,’ Suhud said in an exclusive interview with Kompas.com on Monday, 1 June 2026. He emphasised that PKS supports policies benefiting the public and corrects those deemed deficient. ‘We support what we agree is good, but for shortcomings, we will correct and criticise,’ Suhud said. Therefore, he argued, it is incorrect to label PKS as having lost its critical stance simply for not frequently criticising the government. He also noted that public focus on national issues has overshadowed the Jakarta Regional House of Representatives’ oversight of local matters. ‘The critical stance remains, but we don’t need to constantly seek differences,’ Suhud said. Despite supporting some government programs, PKS continues to voice issues requiring serious attention. These include flood management and oversight of high-rise building safety in Jakarta. ‘Other issues are still raised. Flood management is discussed, as is the oversight of building safety in Jakarta,’ he said. PKS, Suhud added, will continue to uphold checks and balances on local government while prioritising Jakarta residents’ interests.
