PKS President: We Want to Produce National Leaders, Not Just Win Seats

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PKS President Almuzzammil Yusuf stressed the importance of faith as the primary foundation for youth leadership. Almuzzammil emphasised that PKS seeks to produce national leaders, not just to win seats. He conveyed this during the Indonesian Young Leaders Academy (APMI) event at PKS headquarters in South Jakarta on Saturday (9/5/2026). Initially, Almuzzammil explained that the spirit of youth in Surah Al-Kahfi is always attributed to faith. Almuzzammil hopes that APMI will serve as a momentum for the revival of PKS youth’s faith, as well as a space for the birth of prospective national leaders with a strong spirit of struggle. “Through APMI, I hope there will be a revival of PKS youth’s faith. Do not think of etching history without embedding faith in the chest as the soul of the struggle. Become leaders who are strong in spirituality and visionary,” he said. Almuzzammil reminded that the history of Islamic struggle was largely etched by young people with steadfast faith. He exemplified the story of Ashabul Kahfi to the struggles of the Prophet Muhammad with his companions, who were mostly youths. According to Almuzzammil, APMI is a symbol and reinforcement of PKS’s stance to produce national leaders, not merely chasing electoral victories. “APMI is a symbol and reinforcement of the stance that PKS wants to produce national leaders, not just to win seats and electoral interests,” he stated. Almuzzammil also advised PKS cadres to become leaders with strong roots in values and benefits for society. “Become leaders with strong roots, not floating leaders. Strong in values, spirituality, care, and benefits for others,” said Almuzzammil. “I hope you become pioneers of PKS leadership in the future,” he added.
