The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) held training for its young cadres who are members of the Indonesian Young Leaders Academy (APMI) at the party’s central office in Jakarta on Sunday (9/5). PKS President Al Muzammil Yusuf hopes that PKS’s young cadres will possess values of faith and spirituality. According to him, without faith, a leader will not be able to make history. “Through APMI, I hope there will be a revival of faith among PKS youth. Do not think of etching history without planting faith in the heart as the spirit of struggle. Become leaders who are strong in spirituality and visionary,” said Al Muzammil in a written statement. Al Muzammil alluded to the story of the People of the Cave as recorded in the Quran. The story of the young People of the Cave is an example of how God bestows miracles upon young people. He wants APMI to be a momentum for the revival of faith among PKS’s young cadres as well as a space for the birth of future national leaders with a strong spirit of struggle. According to Al Muzammil, the history of Islamic struggle is largely recorded by young people with steadfast faith. He exemplified the story of the People of the Cave to the struggle of the Prophet Muhammad alongside his companions, who were mostly young. “The Prophet Muhammad alongside his companions were on average young people. Of the ten best companions, four of them were young. They etched their history with faith,” he said. Through APMI, PKS emphasises that political parties are not only oriented towards power, but also focus on preparing the best leaders who can provide real contributions to the people. “Become leaders with strong roots, not leaders who float. Strong roots in values, spirituality, care, and usefulness for others,” said Al Muzammil.
