PKS: Finally triumphant
PKS: Finally triumphant
From Republika
As a member of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), I, and
other party members, were happy to learn of the party's decision
to support Amien and Siswono in the presidential election.
The public image of the PKS has been slightly tarnished, due
to some of its top leaders' support of Wiranto. For the public,
the PKS is an Islamic party, which is pro-reform and against the
New Order. It is against human rights violations, and it is also
against violence and militarism. It was an opportunistic attitude
that caused some people to say that Wiranto should be backed, as
Golkar had secured the largest number of votes in the legislative
election. Those supporting Wiranto seem to have forgotten his
background, and that of those close to him.
PKS members are relieved because the PKS has returned to its
original identity as an Islamic and propagative party.
