The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) has distributed sacrificial animals to flood-affected areas in Sumatra during this year’s Eid al-Adha celebrations.

Iman Firmansyah, Chair of PKS’ Syiar Zulhijjah Committee, stated that the party collected a total of 2,911 cattle and 4,562 goats or sheep from its members for the sacrificial ritual.

Additionally, 73 cattle from the central party office (DPP) were distributed for slaughter across various regions.

He explained that six cattle were allocated to areas affected by last November’s Sumatran floods.

“Symbolically, four cattle were slaughtered at the party office, 23 at slaughterhouses, 21 distributed to Provincial Leadership Councils (DPWs) without Members of Parliament, six specifically for flood-affected areas in Sumatra, and 18 allocated to community organisations in Jakarta and surrounding areas,” Iman said in a written statement on Thursday (28 May).

PKS urged the public to view the sacrificial ritual not only as an act of devotion to Allah but also as a means to strengthen social solidarity and empower the community.

Among the cattle slaughtered at the PKS Central Office, one was a sacrifice from PKS youth members under Garuda Keadilan (GK).

The albino Bali cattle named Geno was symbolically handed over by GK President Dhia Ul Haq Al-Azamie to PKS Consultative Council Chairman Mohammad Sohibul Iman.

The albino Bali cattle was then slaughtered by PKS President Almuzzammil Yusuf, accompanied by prayers led by PKS Central Sharia Council Chairman Muslih Abdul Karim.

“May Allah bless us all, and may next year see an even greater contribution to the nation and country,” Almuzzammil said.
