Jakarta — The Justice Prosperity Party (PKS) has urged the Indonesian government to withdraw from membership of the Board of Peace (BoP), the council established by US President Donald Trump, should it fail to support Palestinian independence.

PKS Secretary General Muhammad Kholid affirmed that Palestinian independence constitutes a constitutional mandate that is non-negotiable.

“If the BoP no longer points towards justice for Palestine, then withdrawing from the BoP is a moral and political necessity,” Kholid stated in an official statement on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

According to the Commission XI member of the House of Representatives, such a step would represent an appropriate and dignified stance for the Indonesian government.

“We cannot speak of a peace table when one of the parties involved is acting as an aggressor who fuels and expands the flames of war. Indonesia will not allow diplomacy to become merely a shield for destructive military actions,” Kholid declared.

He stressed that Indonesia must not be drawn into the interests of any global power that disregards humanitarian values.

“Active independence means we are free to determine allies based on truth, and actively work to eliminate colonialism throughout the world. We must build international solidarity to ensure that there is no place for violators of sovereignty in the world’s honourable forums,” Kholid said.

“Our diplomacy is humanitarian diplomacy. Just as we count every life in Gaza, we also care about the stability of the wider Middle Eastern region,” Kholid emphasised.
