PKS Considers Jokowi's Wish for Prabowo-Gibran to Serve Two Terms as Reasonable for Stability

Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Central Executive Board Chairman Mardani Ali Sera considers it natural for Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to request that the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka be safeguarded for two terms. According to him, the request is reasonable to ensure continuity. “It is natural for Mr Jokowi to ask for two terms. The reasoning is sound, so there is continuity. And in Mr Jokowi’s mind, two terms are for stability,” Mardani told journalists on Saturday (20/6/2026). PKS believes that whether the administration continues or not later depends on Prabowo. PKS leaves that decision to Prabowo, including regarding who his deputy will be in the future. “PKS sees that whether it will continue for two terms depends very much on Mr Prabowo. The president is Mr Prabowo. He has the right to choose who will accompany him in the next period,” he said. Previously, Jokowi asked the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) and sympathisers to safeguard the Prabowo-Gibran administration. This was conveyed by PSI Central Executive Board Chairman Bestari Barus. “To us, he conveyed that we are asked to safeguard Mr Prabowo-Gibran, even, even for two terms. So there is no slander about there being two suns. How can there be two suns? Nonsense,” Bestari told journalists on Friday (18/6/2026). Bestari revealed the message during a meeting with Kaesang Pangarep’s father in Solo on Thursday morning (18/6). Bestari said Jokowi reminded them to maintain internal harmony and support the ongoing Prabowo-Gibran administration. “He continued, earlier I was also entrusted with a message to maintain internal harmony. And also remind friends wherever they are to support this Prabowo-Gibran pair, what other sun could there be,” he said.
