The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) has emphasised that the parliamentary threshold (PT) remains necessary as an instrument to maintain stability and strengthen the political system within the House of Representatives (DPR RI). “The PT is still required. Yes, the PT remains necessary, because it serves as a way for us to strengthen the political system in the DPR RI,” said PKS Secretary General M. Kholid at the PKS headquarters in Jakarta on Monday (18/5/2026).

Kholid noted that without a clear threshold, the political landscape within parliament would become unmeasurable. “If there is no PT, the ease of entering and exiting the parliament would occur without any standard,” Kholid remarked.

Kholid also responded to discussions regarding changes to the parliamentary threshold figure. PKS stated that, as of now, no specific figure has been agreed upon. Kholid explained that PKS is currently conducting an in-depth study regarding the size of the PT and continues to communicate with other political parties. “We are building discussions with parties, both those within parliament and those outside parliament,” he said.
