PKP Ministry: Unqualified Opinion from BPK Drives More Pro-People Budget

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) has received an unqualified opinion (Wajar Tanpa Pengecualian, WTP) from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) for its administratively sound financial management in the 2025 fiscal year.

PKP Minister Maruarar Sirait said the designation is a momentum to strengthen budget governance while ensuring that state spending increasingly sides with the public.

“We must do even better going forward, be more transparent, more anti-corruption, and our activities must have greater impact. Administratively it is correct, procedurally it is correct, but the impact on equitable development and social justice must also keep improving,” Maruarar told journalists at the BPK office in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He said the PKP Ministry received recommendations from the BPK of a structural and normative nature, and it is expected to further improve the management of financial procedures with greater transparency and pro-people policies.

He explained that the majority of the PKP Ministry’s budget is allocated to programmes that address the needs of communities. Of a total budget ceiling of Rp12.5 trillion, around Rp2 trillion is being used for the construction of permanent housing for communities affected by disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

Meanwhile, more than Rp8.3 trillion, or roughly 80 per cent of the ministry’s operational budget, is allocated to the home renovation programme, known as bedah rumah.

“So spending on staff, salaries, and official travel does not reach 8 per cent. This shows the budget is very pro-people, because out of 100 per cent of the budget, spending on salaries, travel, and so on does not reach 8 per cent,” he said.

In addition, the government has also prepared a People’s Business Credit (KUR) scheme for housing worth Rp50 trillion, along with a Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP) allocation of around Rp53 trillion, to support the provision of homes for the public.

He added that the unqualified opinion is a motivation for the entire PKP Ministry ranks to continue maintaining public trust through sound financial governance, while improving the effectiveness of housing programmes in supporting equitable development and public welfare.
