PKP Ministry Promotes Domestic Products Through 'Gentengisasi' Programme
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) is encouraging the use of domestic products for buildings through the roof-tile programme, or ‘gentengisasi’.
“The Ministry of PKP is also continuing to follow up on President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to strengthen the use of domestic products through the gentengisasi programme,” said Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait, commonly known as Ara, in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
In its implementation, he said, the use of roof tiles must still meet quality standards, even though the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) is not mandatory.
Instead, product quality will be based on test results from the Ceramics Centre, thereby still guaranteeing quality while opening up greater opportunities for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the building materials sector.
Ara also emphasised that the government continues to encourage private sector involvement in supporting housing development. Collaboration with various parties is expected to accelerate the provision of decent housing for the public while ensuring the success of the 3 Million Houses Programme.
For the record, the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) has affirmed its full support for the National Gentengisasi Programme as part of implementing President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to deliver people’s housing that is more decent, cool, and of high quality.
The government launched the gentengisasi programme as part of President Prabowo Subianto’s policy to promote the use of MSME products in the construction of people’s housing. The programme was marked by the purchase of roof tiles from the Jatiwangi roof-tile MSME cluster in Majalengka Regency, West Java, he said.
As an initial step, he continued, 14 lorries carrying a total of 75,000 roof tiles were dispatched directly by Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait from the Jatiwangi tile production centre.
The total roof-tile orders announced at the event reached 24 lorries, sourced from various government programmes and housing developers, with total transaction commitments of around Rp3 billion from the central, provincial and district governments.
Ara said the gentengisasi programme is an implementation of President Prabowo Subianto’s directive so that people’s housing development does not only focus on the physical construction of houses, but also delivers economic benefits to communities and MSME players.
He also stressed that MSMEs must maintain product quality in order to compete in wider markets. Not only in Majalengka, he also encouraged all MSME roof-tile producers to contribute to the government programme.
