The Minister of Housing and Residential Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait (Ara), has revealed that the Housing Bill supports the rapid and precise utilisation of state-owned land for the benefit of the common people.

“For example, how state-owned lands currently controlled by third parties, such as in Tanah Abang, can be utilised quickly and appropriately for the people, especially for the lower-income population,” Ara stated in a briefing in Jakarta on Thursday.

The Ministry of PKP, he added, is continuing to prepare the Housing Bill.

“We are continuously preparing it to cover several key themes, including land, financing, and data—everything related to housing. There are many cross-sectoral aspects involved. Therefore, we must ensure synergy, particularly between the central and regional governments, as well as between various ministries,” said Ara.

As information, Minister of Housing and Residential Areas Maruarfeur Maruarar Sirait emphasised that the drafting of the Housing Bill considers three primary interests: the people, the state, and the business sector.

This legislation is expected to serve as a solution to housing issues while simultaneously driving economic growth and the housing industry.

The government is preparing the Housing Bill, which includes regulations on land provision and housing finance for the community.

Ara stated that the government will work swiftly to prepare the draft regulation to provide certainty for all stakeholders within the national housing ecosystem.

He expressed optimism that the preparation and discussion of the regulation will proceed smoothly with support from the House of Representatives (DPR), specifically Commission V, which oversees infrastructure and housing.

Ara concluded by stating that the government is striving to strengthen the national housing ecosystem and accelerate the provision of housing for the public.
