PKP engaged in 'tobacco politics'

PALU, Central Sulawesi: The Justice and Unity Party (PKP) shuns the much-condemned money politics and plays "tobacco politics" instead.

Party activists started their indoor campaign in town by handing out cigarettes to party supporters. Antara reported the activists pledged it was not money politics by another name.

"We mean to keep the supporters awake while they listen to the speeches," an activist said in the campaign in an air-conditioned building. "Handing out cigarettes is not in our party program."

Other parties fielding boring campaigns may follow suit.
