PKP: Construction of people's housing on KAI Tanah Abang land will continue
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait emphasised that the construction of housing for the public on land owned by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI in the Tanah Abang area, Jakarta, will continue, given that the land constitutes a state asset.
“Definitely. We will use it for the interests of the state, the interests of the Indonesian people,” Maruarar stated during a press conference in Jakarta on Friday.
According to him, the state must not yield to anyone in defending assets that have the force of final legal standing, especially when used for public interest.
“If anyone occupies state land, then of course the reason must be clear? What is the basis? This is the state, state assets. This is a rule of law state. The state must not lose because the state is right and the purpose is also right,” he said.
On the same occasion, Director General of Land Dispute and Conflict Handling at the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Iljas Tedjo Prijono stated that regarding the KAI land issue in the Tanah Abang area, normatively based on data recorded at the Ministry of ATR/BPN, the land plot is registered in the name of PT KAI, recorded as HPL number 17 and HPL number 19, which previously originated from the Ministry of Transportation’s former right of use.
“Thus, it is not suddenly in the name of PT KAI; previously it was in the name of the Ministry of Transportation, issued in 1988, then HPL was issued in 2008 in the name of PT KAI. Because normatively it is recorded in the land administration, this falls into the category of assets. If it is in the category of assets, then this is state property and the state must be present to defend that asset,” said Iljas Tedjo Prijono.
Meanwhile, Deputy Director of PT KAI Dody Budiawan said that his side is ready to install a sign on the KAI land located in the Tanah Abang area, Jakarta.
“So we will start on Monday to carry out the steps already explained by Mr Director General of Land Dispute and Conflict Handling at the Ministry of ATR/BPN as our steps to show that the ownership of that asset is in the name of Kereta Api. The first step we will take is to install a sign explaining the data regarding that asset, that the asset belongs to PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero),” said Dody.
PT KAI has filed a complaint report with the police and will send a letter to the Anti-Land Mafia Task Force to assist in handling that asset.
For information, Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait mentioned that there is KAI-owned land in the Tanah Abang area, Jakarta, controlled by third parties, even though it has final legal force regarding ownership by PT KAI.
Maruarar emphasised that the land is state property and must be utilised for the public’s interest.
