PKK General Chairperson Urges Alor Students to Use Free Health Checks (CKG) as an Investment

General Chairperson of the Family Welfare Movement (TP PKK) Tri Tito Karnavian attended a Free Health Check (CKG) for students at SMAN 1 Kalabahi, Alor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT), on Thursday 21 May.

The CKG activity organised by TP PKK included mental health screening, tuberculosis (TB) screening, and eye health examinations as part of efforts to raise awareness of adolescent health from an early age.

In his speech, Tri said health is one of the main focuses of the PKK movement, reflected in the PKK’s 10 Core Programmes. Therefore, the TP PKK continues to promote the activities, especially for young people.

‘One of these programmes is health. Why is PKK carrying out free health checks, including mental health, eye health, and TB screening? Because we believe mental health is extremely important,’ Tri said in an official statement.

Tri noted that mental health requires serious attention because many high-school students are in a phase of life full of emotional dynamics. He said that feelings of gloom are normal for teenagers, but still need to be recognised and understood so they do not develop into more serious problems.

Besides mental health, Tri also highlighted the high TB cases in Indonesia that require joint attention. He reminded that TB is an infectious disease whose treatment requires high discipline.

Therefore, young people need to understand that health is the key investment for the future. In this context, intelligence and grand ambitions are unlikely to be achieved optimally without sound physical and mental health.

‘My dear students, never forget you are a generation of young people with many dreams. I am sure there are many dreams here at this high school.’

At the same time, Tri also encouraged the students to harness technological advances to achieve their aspirations. Students should continue learning, improve their abilities, and possess excellent English language skills to compete globally.

During the event, Tri also appointed the Alor Regency TB Awareness Youth Ambassador. The appointment was marked by the presenting of sashes to several students. He also symbolically handed over equipment to support UKS to Lidya Siawan Winaryo, Chair of the TP PKK Alor Regency.

After the handover, Tri inspected the CKG rollout in classrooms. He also observed the mental health screening for students at SMAN 1 Kalabahi, Alor.
