PKK Chairperson Urges Cadres to Understand Financial Literacy in the Family

The Chairperson of the Family Welfare Empowerment Team (TP PKK), Tri Tito Karnavian, has invited PKK administrators and cadres to understand the importance of financial literacy at the family level. According to her, this capability is necessary so that the public can filter information and manage finances wisely and effectively. “Hopefully, with this literacy and understanding, we can broaden our insights so that we can also adapt to the current financial information available,” Tri said in a statement on Wednesday (10/6/2026). She made the remarks at the Financial Education for Women event for Financial Literacy Month 2026 at the Dhanapala Building, Ministry of Finance, Jakarta, on Tuesday (9/6). Tri believes financial literacy is a crucial foundation for family and community resilience. With a good understanding, PKK administrators and cadres are expected to have the provisions to face various challenges while utilising financial services optimally. She was also grateful that, based on several surveys, public financial literacy levels continue to improve. This is evident from the increasing number of people utilising financial products and services. Therefore, Tri hopes PKK cadres can play an active role in supporting these efforts. “We, the PKK Mobilisation Team, hope that mothers as PKK cadres become the front line in educating families about household financial management, for instance, saving, investing, avoiding consumer debt, and protecting families from illegal financial practices such as illegal online loans and fraudulent investments,” Tri stated. On the occasion, Tri expressed her appreciation to the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) for their collaboration in organising the activity. She hopes similar education can be expanded to reach PKK teams in the regions so that more women, particularly mothers, have adequate financial literacy skills. “So many PKK cadres throughout Indonesia need this financial literacy education and can eventually convey these opportunities to families and their surroundings,” Tri added. As development agents at the family level, Tri noted, the PKK has a strategic role in disseminating financial education to various groups and communities. Therefore, she hopes that in the future the PKK can establish a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the OJK to strengthen family financial management education across Indonesia. “We, the PKK, which has been established for 54 years and has extensive experience in educating the public on matters ranging from character, economic resilience, food security, and health, among others, really hope for support from the OJK so that we have a clear, sound syllabus, which then allows the OJK’s own objectives to be achieved in educating the public in financial management,” she concluded. The event was also attended by Chairperson of the OJK Board of Commissioners Friderica Widyasari Dewi, Chief Executive of Behavioural Supervision of Financial Service Business Actors, Education, and Consumer Protection at OJK Dicky Kartikoyono, Central PKK administrators, and Chairperson of the Jakarta Provincial PKK Endang Nugrahani Pramono Anung. The activity was attended by 1,000 cadres offline and 3,000 PKK cadres from various regions online.
