PKH Task Force Spokesperson Responds After Febrie Adriansyah Named Suspect
The spokesperson for the Forest Area Enforcement Task Force (Satgas PKH), Barita Simanjuntak, has expressed respect for the legal process concerning Febrie Adriansyah, the former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, who has been named a corruption suspect. Febrie previously served as executive chairman of Satgas PKH.
Responding to questions about the impact on the task force’s work, Barita said Satgas PKH does not operate on an individual basis, but rather according to a system of governance.
“The organisation’s principle is not determined person by person, but by good governance,” said Barita at the Ministry of Defence building on Monday, 13 July 2026.
According to Barita, law enforcement matters fall within the remit of law enforcement agencies, and such matters are properly coordinated.
He said the task force does not work on assumptions, but takes steps based on a legal approach. According to him, the task force’s work rests on three functions set out in Presidential Regulation Number 5 of 2025. The regulation governs forest area enforcement measures to address mining and plantation activities as well as other illegal operations.
For example, the task force carries out the seizure of forest areas, the collection of administrative fines, and asset recovery in forest areas. “This has been running all along and proceeding smoothly,” said Barita.
On Monday morning, Minister of Defence Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, as chairman of the Satgas PKH steering committee, gathered the task force’s leadership at the Ministry of Defence office. Among those present were Attorney General ST Burhanuddin as First Vice Chairman of the steering committee, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto as Second Vice Chairman, TNI Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Richard Tampubolon as First Vice Executive Chairman, and Head of the Finance and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) Yusuf Ateh as a steering committee member.
Barita said the meeting discussed optimisation, synchronisation, and evaluation of the task force’s duties. During the meeting, Minister of Defence Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin emphasised the importance of good governance.
Satgas PKH plays a vital role in overseeing forest areas, collecting administrative fines, and recovering state assets. All actions must be guided by the principle of accountability. “The task force’s duties are continually evaluated based on field findings and data verification and validation,” said Barita.
Febrie has been named a suspect in corruption and money laundering cases that have cost the state tens of trillions of rupiah. The three cases involve coal procurement for coal-fired power plants, the PT Asabri scandal, and a case at PT Krakatau Steel. The alleged corruption cases were initially handled by the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipikor) together with the Metro Jaya Regional Police, before being transferred to the Attorney General’s Office.
