REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Forest Area Regulation Task Force (PKH), formed by President Prabowo Subianto, has seized an illegal coal mining site belonging to PT Asmin Koalindo Tuhup (AKT) in Murung Raya Regency, Central Kalimantan. The site is connected to a corruption case involving businessman Samin Tan. The seizure took place on Tuesday (7/4/2026) through the installation of a seizure notice by the Attorney General’s Office. The event was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Defence Minister Sjafrie S as the Head of the PKH Task Force’s Advisory Board, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin, TNI Commander Agus Subianto, National Police Chief Listyo Sigit, and Acting Executive Chairman of the PKH Task Force Febrie Adriansyah. Also present were Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni, and Head of BPKP Yusuf Ateh, along with representatives from the Attorney General’s Office, National Police, TNI, and related ministries. Head of the Legal Information Centre of the Attorney General’s Office, Anang Supriatna, explained that this seizure is a continuation of the legal process following the determination of Samin Tan as a suspect in March 2026. “The designation of ST as a suspect was carried out after investigators obtained sufficient evidence through a series of investigations, including examinations of witnesses and searches that have already been conducted,” said Anang. Director of Investigations of the Senior Special Prosecutors’ Office Syarief Sulaiman Nahdi stated that Samin Tan acted as the beneficial owner of PT AKT, a subsidiary of Borneo Lumbung Energi & Metal. The case relates to coal mining activities in Murung Raya based on a Coal Mining Business Work Agreement (PKP2B) signed on 31 May 1999. However, the contract was terminated by a decision of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources in October 2017.
